San Diego State University
Sip Sip was commissioned by San Diego State University for their GreenFest, inspired by the elements—earth, fire, air, and wind—and made entirely from campus waste.
After a trash scavenger hunt with their students, we discovered that single-use Starbucks cups were the most wasted item on campus.
I cleaned, cut, and painted hundreds of discarded cups in the colors of the elements, with line artist Taleen assisting in bringing the piece to life.
The artwork visually highlights the environmental impact of plastic waste and the importance of sustainability.
